Cory Silken

Biography

Cory Silken, a graduate of Boston University, combines his passion for photography and love of sailing to document and preserve the grace of classic yachts, and convey the real thrill of sailboat racing. His travels as a sailor have allowed him to capture a range of distinct experiences, from the glowing warmth of a summer sunrise at a secluded beach, to a gusty Nor’easter on Buzzards Bay. These images are never posed or set up, but each portrays the dynamic range of light and life on the water.

Silken’s work is displayed in numerous venues across the country. He was a finalist in the Photographer’s Forum 2001 College Photography Contest, and received the NESPA Photography Award in 1996 for his portrait of Cornell West.
