The Artist: Carole Bécam
...born in 1968, she lives and works in France. Symbol of Vitality Space – of the life force, of liberty, or of meditation – the space that we can spend a whole lifetime seeking, though it may be within us all the while: that is what Carole Bécam reveals to us. And then there is that red, ever-present, sometimes invasive: a symbol of vitality in opposition to the atmospheric softness created by the gentle shades of ivory and orange all around. Beneath her brush, the canvas bursts into flame, making way for the mysteries – the work is like a voodoo fire to summon the spirits, when the magic of the artist can be revealed.
