Born in Chicago, Illinois but transplanted to Arizona as a child, Kannon learned an appreciation for the contrasting landscapes of the two states and developed an eye for the richness and difference between the way light reflects and illuminates various regions of the country. This heightened awareness of the play of light and shadow and its effect on color is evident in the vibrant expressionist works she paints today.
"There's an infinite galaxy of styles and approaches to art," the artist explains. "I am fascinated by the experiments and discoveries I make while viewing and creating art." Kannon received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2001.
